Expected to launch during the festive season.
Spyshots of the 2016 Skoda Rapid (facelift) testing in Bangalore surfaced online, courtesy of Team-BHP member Dr Naren. The facelifted sedan is expected to launch during the festive season.
Like the test mules spotted previously, it does not reveal much of the design changes in the new Rapid, thanks to body-colored panels that hide them. It’s expected to get new projector headlamps, redesigned bumper, longer Skoda butterfly grille and re-profiled front fenders. The rear-end has a panel covering the bumper, suggesting that slight changes will be seen.
Inside, the new Rapid will have dual tone seat fabrics, and could source the feature list from the 2016 VW Vento such as rain sensing wipers, auto dimming IRVM, phone book/SMS viewer and Mirrorlink connectivity as part of a new Mirrorlink infotainment system.

Skoda is likely to continue offering a 1.6-litre MPI four-cylinder in the petrol variant, and introduce an updated version of the 1.5-litre TDI four-cylinder engine in the diesel Rapid. The current model has a 5-speed manual gearbox standard in both models, while a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and 7-speed DSG is optional in the petrol and diesel variants, respectively.
