Will not be sold as an accessory either, for now.
According to a report on OverDrive, the Royal Enfield Himalayan will be sold without a center stand, and buyers will not be able to install one as an option too.
According to the publication's sources, the center stand of the Himalayan comes in contact with the chain when the motorcycle is ridden hard over bumps. This would lower the life of the chain, the report states.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan was launched in the country this month at INR 1.55 lakhs, ex-Showroom, Maharashtra and INR 1.78 lakhs, on-road Mumbai. The OverDrive report states that deliveries of the Himalayan are yet to start in Mumbai as dealers are allegedly waiting for a price hike which comes into effect on April 1, 2016. The hike is due to increase in motor vehicle tax in Maharashtra. However, sale of the bike is banned in New Delhi owing to non-compliance of BS-4 emission regulations.
Power for the Royal Enfield Himalayan comes from a 411 cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with SOHC and an oil-cooler, matched to a five-speed gearbox. It develops 24.5 PS at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm at 4,000-4,500 rpm.
