If you were an eco-car manufacturer, what would you do on a day that's set aside for the environment? Release a special edition with stickers and tints that pollutes no less, use it as an advertising occasion and pose with models in a green outfit, speak about renewable sources of energy and waste everyone's time?
Doing none of that is the World's biggest maker of electric cars, REVA Electric Car Company, who has come out with a novel idea to raise awareness among public.
REVA has commenced a three day ‘Spot the Green Car’ contest on its place of origin, Bangalore yesterday April 21 and will end on the World Earth Day on Wednesday, April 22, 2009.
Five REVA cars (G-wiz to our foreign readers) will make trips around Bangalore city adopting paths that will comprise the most popular places of interests for the public and sightseers. Each of those cars carry a letter from the word EARTH. Additionally the cars also carry a SMS number which people have to text the word 'REVA EARTH' to and enter a contest whose winners will be announced on Earth Day.
Not only that, the five cars roaming the city will hand out information on “10 Ways to Go Green” and distribe 300 potted seeds. REVA encourages Bangalore residents to plant and grow saplings and take an active role in lending a helping hand to the environment.
