The next generation Fiat Palio, as we laid out in a previous post on another rendering, will be fatter, wider, longer and taller compared to the existing car.
Fiat's next-generation Palio would be a much bigger car making use of Fiat's Multijet 2 engine. Increase in demand for more fuel efficient vehicles could force Fiat to turn towards alternative fuel powertrains.
Hyundai's developing an electric vehicle based on the i20 hatchback, so Fiat could use the future Palio (which would likely swell to that size) as a ground for electric and hybrid variants and pit it against Hyundai.
The United States is witnessing a revolution in the automobile industry. Unpredictable gas prices and economic conditions have forced customers to downsize. With Fiat now in control of Chrysler's operations in North America, a electric Palio could fit in the scheme of things.
Fiat have already shown with the Palio Weekend Electrico that this platform is capable of bearing such equipment. It remains to be seen if the Palio's potential could be tapped with non-regular variants.
