First shown at Auto Expo 2014 in India.
The Renault KWID Concept has been showcased at 2014 Sao Paulo Motor Show. The KWID is the first Renault Concept to have inputs from several international Renault design studios including Brazil and India, and the first new concept car presented for a market outside Europe.
Reportedly green lit for production, the design concept previews a Ford EcoSport rival which will target youngsters in emerging countries. The sub-Duster KWID measures 1,940 mm wide and 3,620 mm long. Its rugged exterior and a futuristic interior with centrally mounted steering and instrument console are typical of a concept car.
The production model would be watered down to a significant extent, and could either take the CMF Platform or the V-Platform as its base.
Renault has not revealed the technical specifications but a downsized 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol motor mated to a dual-clutch transmission is under the hood of the concept. The crossover is also ZE-ready (Zero Emission).
Other noteworthy features include an electrically operated front bench, electrically opening scissor doors, LED lighting and command keys.
The main highlight of the Renault KWID Concept however, is the 'Flying Companion' drone which takes off from the roof. The drone can be controlled from a tablet on the dashboard to click real time images on the traffic conditions, scenery, etc.
