Ahead of its Indian premiere at the Auto Expo, prices and details of the refreshed Renault Koleos are available. The Koleos has not been a volume seller for the French carmaker in India. Hence, Renault hopes to increase sales of the crossover by introducing a cut-price entry-level variant.
Until now, the Koleos in India was available as a 4x4 only, that too with an automatic transmission. The facelifted model will see the addition of a 4x2 MT and a 4x4 MT variant apart from the 4x4 AT variant. All variants are powered by a 2.0-liter diesel engine, which for the first time will be assembled at Renault-Nissan's Chennai plant.
While the 4x4 variants have their power and torque outputs at 173 PS and 360 Nm respectively, the 4x2 will only produce 150 PS and 320 Nm. Power is handled by a 6-speed manual transmission in the manual variants, and a 6-speed automatic transmission in the top-end variant.
The 4x2 will do 0-100 km/h in 11.5 seconds, the 4x4 MT will do it in 9.9 seconds while the AT does it in 11.9 seconds. The ARAI rated fuel economy stands at 17.15 km/l for the 4x2, 16.26 km/l for the 4x4 MT and 14.56 km/l for the 4x4 AT.
In terms of features, the base model gets single-tone alloy wheels, while the 4x4s get dual-tone wheels. Other features that have been deleted on the 4x2 are the BOSE audio system, ESP, Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, side and curtain airbags, electric seat adjustment and leather seats.
