To be smaller than Koleos but larger than Captur.
Branding rumours related to the Renault's upcoming C-segment crossover have been floated for the past year, but today the French car maker announced that it is christened 'Kadjar', and that it will be unveiled on February 2, as reported earlier.
Kadjar, as the company says, is an amalgamation of 'Kad' and 'Jar'. The former is inspired by 'quad' so denotes 4WD drive while the latter is said to be reminiscent of words like 'agile' and 'jallir' in French, hence signifying the important go-anywhere capabilities of the crossover.
Renault also emphasizes that the first letter 'K' is "indicative of the model's robustness".
Recalling information from previous reports, the Kadjar will be based on the same CMF platform as the Qashqai. It will be larger than the Captur but smaller than Koleos, with an expected length of 4.4 meters. Design wise it's expected to draw a lot of inspiration from the Captur, as can be seen in IAB's rendering above.

Reports say that the Kadjar will be available in 4x2 and 4x4 versions, and will be powered by Renault's 1.5-litre dCI diesel engine, while the more powerful 1.6-litre engine is likely to be made available as well.
Renault India's business plan for 2015 is not likely to feature the Kadjar, as the Lodgy and the XBA mini car would be their focus points.
