Renault India is celebrating the first anniversary of the Duster by launching a special edition model. Dubbed the Renault Duster Anniversary Edition, the usual suspects come in the form of body graphics on the side of the car. However, as you would have noticed from this image, this Duster sports a new body color called 'Cosmos Blue'.
This should not come as a surprise to Indian Autos Blog readers however. About the same time last year, Renault India began exporting the Duster to the UK and Ireland and we spotted a herd of similar blue colored Dusters albeit with the Dacia badge. Dacia refers to this color as 'Caspian Blue'. When asked about introducing the color for the Indian market, Renault India's CEO, Mr. Marc Nassif, said that if there was enough demand for it, he would eventually introduce it in India as well.
Giving the Duster that 'something extra' has come at a very good time. Sales of the Duster have taken a hit since the Ford EcoSport was launched in June this year. The news did not get any better when Nissan launched the Terrano last week (the Terrano is the badge-engineered Duster) and already found 6,000 pre-bookings.
The Duster Anniversary edition is available only on the top-end model and as a result, the Cosmos Blue color is also available only on the top-end RxZ 110 PS version. We're informed by dealers that Renault is charging INR 50,000 more for the anniversary edition.
