Land Rover has one more launch up its sleeves before 2017 ends - the Range Rover Velar. The Range Rover Velar was recently spotted completely uncamouflaged in Goa by Goa On Wheels last week.
The particular model seen in the spy photos is the Range Rover Velar First Edition. Land Rover will offer the edition only in the first year of sales. It builds the special edition Velar in three exterior colours: Corris Grey, Silicon Silver and Flux Silver. On the outside, it features Matrix-Laser LED headlights with signature DRLs, solar accentuating windscreen, First Edition badging on the B-pillar, sliding panoramic roof in contrasting black colour.
Internationally, 22-inch wheels are standard on the Range Rover Velar First Edition, but as usual, things end up quite basic in this aspect in India. 19-inch 5 spoke 'Style 5046' wheels with Satin Dark Grey finish are standard. 20-inch 10 spoke 'Style 1032' wheels with Diamond Turned finish is optional.
Interior highlights of the Range Rover Velar First Edition include 20-way heated/cooled front seats with memory and massage settings in Light Oyster/Ebony perforated Windsor Leather, heated rear reclining seats, unique carbon-fibre with Copper Wire Weave trim finishers with First Edition branding, suedecloth headlining, illuminated treadplates, configurable ambient lighting, heated windscreen, heated steering wheel, head-up display, 23-speaker Meridian Signature Sound System and surround camera system.
The Range Rover Velar First Edition is available in the D380 petrol engine model and the D300 diesel engine model. India will get it exclusively in the latter. The Velar D300’s 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 diesel engine develops 221 kW (300 PS) and 700 Nm of torque. An 8-speed automatic transmission and an AWD system are standard. A 0-100 km/h sprint takes 6.5 seconds, and the SUV maxes out at 241 km/h. All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), Terrain Response 2, Active Rear Locking Differential, Configurable Dynamics and Wade Sensing are performance features are standard in Velar First Edition.
