According to Team-BHP's sources, production of the 2017 Maruti Swift will commence in October 2017 at Suzuki's plant in Gujarat. The initial production run will be 10,000 units per month, which will be increased gradually.
The next-gen Swift was unveiled in Japan for the first time last December and made its European debut at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. It measures 3,840 mm long, 1,695 mm wide and 1,525 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 2,450 mm.
In the Euro-spec Swift, some of the new feature introduces include LED headlamps with LED DRLs, 16-inch dual tone alloy rims, C-pillar integrated door handles, LED taillamps, and a hexagonal grille, which is likely to be seen in the India-spec Maruti Swift, although the rims are likely to be 15 inches. Inside, top-end models will feature a 7-inch touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Automatic climate control, new instrument cluster with revised MID, and a sportier flat bottom steering wheel.
Engine options are reported to retain the 1.2-litre VVT four-cylinder petrol engine and the 1.3-litre DDiS four-cylinder diesel engine. So far, the India-spec Swift has not been offered with an automatic gearbox, which could change when the new Swift comes out. A likely option is the 5-speed AGS from the Maruti Ignis.
