Recently introduced 2015 Cayenne range in India starts at Rs 1.02 crore.
One of the most popular Porsches in the Indian market, the Cayenne, has crossed the 600,000 production milestone at its plant in Leipzig. And even though the SUV has been around since the early noughties (2000s) and is loved by many, this is a huge achievement considering the Cayenne is a premium offering.
The 600,000th Cayenne which rolled out of Porsche's production facility at Leipzig last month happens to be the newly launched, V6-powered Cayenne GTS which debuted at the 2014 L.A. Auto Show. The company says that more than 51,000 units of Cayenne have been delivered in the first nine months of 2014.
Sharing its platform with the Volkswagen Touareg, the Porsche Cayenne is considered one of the most dynamically sorted Sports Utility Vehicles on sale.
And like other Porsches, the vehicle is available in quite a few variations: starting with the base-model Cayenne and going all the way up to the now V6-powered Cayenne GTS.
Porsche decided to update the Cayenne for the model year 2015 version. Also launched in India, the MY2015 Cayenne sports new-look headlamps (complete with four-point LED daytime running lamps), a redesigned front bumper with active cooling flaps, and slightly tweaked rear taillamps, bumper, and exhaust tip design.
In India, the Cayenne Diesel, which is powered by a 3-litre V6 diesel engine that makes 245 hp of maximum power and 550 Nm of maximum torque, sits at the bottom of the range, priced at INR 1.02 crore (ex-showroom, Maharashtra).
The range is topped by the 2015 Cayenne Turbo, which is powered by 4.8-litre biturbo V8 engine that makes 520 hp of maximum power and 750 Nm of torque, and is priced at INR 1.74 crores.
