Carscoop.blogspot.com's reader Toldi has managed to film a set of Porsche test mules when they were tanking up at a fuel station on a highway in Germany. The cars featured in the film are the new Porsche Cayman which is scheduled for a Los Angeles debut later this week and a fairly undisguised prototype of what appears to be the Porsche Macan.
The styling cues on the Macan prototype is very close to that of the Cayenne, so much so that we were actually convinced that the prototype was a mid-life facelift of the Cayenne, until we carefully watched the video over and over to conclude that the test mule is certainly smaller than the Cayenne.
The Porsche Macan is based on the Audi Q5's platform, but it's more than just a Porsche top hat on an Audi platform. The Porsche engineers have tweaked the suspension and chassis to deliver a driver involvement that is typical of a Porsche.
The baby SUV will be getting new set of specifically engineered engines and transmissions which will include a four cylinder motor down the line.

The other video shows the 2013 Porsche Cayman which will be showcased at the Los Angeles Auto Show that opens its doors tomorrow. The new Cayman has derived its interior from the new Boxter and features subtle design changes like the reprofiled tail lamps.
