Will go on sale in 2017.
The current Fiat Punto, introduced way back at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show (2005 IAA), is the third generation model. The long-overdue fourth generation model is currently under development in Brazil, as reaffirmed by new spyshots published by Autos Segredos.
Like in the previous spyshots, the test mule's exterior is heavily camouflaged. The interior though, has been revealed in another set of spyshots. The all-new model would have a steering wheel similar to that of the Jeep Renegade and centrally positioned HVAC vents.
The fourth-gen Fiat Punto (codename: Fiat X6H) is said to be underpinned by a stretched version of the Fiat 326 platform of the Fiat Palio and Fiat Uno. The same platform would be used for the next-gen Fiat Linea (codename: Fiat X6S) as well.

The all-new model's engine line-up will comprise a few of the current ones as well as the new 1.4-litre GSE (Global Small Engine) engine rated at over 100 hp and 1.8-litre E.torQ EVO engine. A new 1.6-litre E-Torq petrol engine is also in the rumour mill. The Euro-spec model may be offered with a 0.9-litre TwinAir turbocharged petrol engine to rival the VW Polo BlueMotion and the Ford Fiesta EcoBoost.
The next-gen Fiat Punto is likely to be offered only in 5-door form and will go on sale in South America in H1 2017.
