Volkswagen Lavida series exclusive to Chinese market.
The first images of the China-exclusive Volkswagen Lavida have surfaced on Chinese portals. The VW Lavida is built by the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture, based on the older VW PQ34 platform.
Available in sedan and estate bodystyles (called Gran Lavida), changes include updated headlamps with new clusters, re-profile lower intake with new foglamps and chrome element, new LED clusters for the taillamps, and a redesigned rear bumper.
Inside, the 2015 VW Lavida gets a new multifunction 3-spoke steering wheel, updated instrument cluster and new trim materials for the dashboard, including the addition of a chrome lining across the dashboard. The new Lavida will be available in three interior color schemes. It comes equipped with a Start/Stop button, an infotainment display with Mirrorlink smartphone connectivity, and a "Clean Air" HVAC system.
Power for the VW Lavida comes from a 1.4-liter turbo TSI engine, which delivers 131 hp and 225 Nm of torque through a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Reports suggest that VW will also add a 1.2-liter TSI engine in the Bluemotion variant paired to the 7-speed DSG. Fuel consumption of the Bluemotion variant is expected to return 19.56 km/L (Chinese standard).
The facelifted VW Lavida will reportedly launch later this month in China, and prices are expected to be similar to outgoing model, stretching from 84,900 yuan to 137,900 yuan (INR 8.67 lakhs to INR 14.09 lakhs).
