The Honda Unicorn 150 was relaunched at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd seem to be gearing up to update the Honda Unicorn 150. Re-introduced due to low sales of the Unicorn 160, the Unicorn 150 remains HMSI’s most successful product in the segment. A patent image of a motorcycle claimed as the new Honda Unicorn has been shared by Rushlane.
However, the lack of a front disc and rear monoshock, signature features of the Unicorn, raises questions on the claimed identity of this motorcycle. Honda India has kept to a monoshock rear suspension setup in the 150 cc segment and the Honda Unicorn 150 was one of the first adopters of the technology in the country.
The present Honda Unicorn 150 has remained largely unchanged ever since its launch in 2004. The bike is powered by a 149.2 cc single cylinder air-cooled mill coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. The carburetted engine is capable of producing 12.73 bhp of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 12.80 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm.
The Honda Unicorn 150 gets tube tyres at both ends and the updated version may get tubeless tyres. The bike tips the scales at 145 kg and has a 179 mm ground clearance. The fuel tank can store 13-litre fuel tank.
The present generation Honda Unicorn 150 is priced at INR 70,267 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
