Daihatsu is to Toyota what Dacia is to Renault - its a low cost brand that makes compact vehicles. You've seen a Daihatsu in India, maybe even driven one. You have! The Premier Rio is an old Daihatsu Terios that is manufactured in China today by Zotye Auto.
The Daihatsu Mira is similar to the Maruti Estilo but with a much longer legacy. It's been on the map for the last 33 years. In its seventh generation, the Mira is one of the icons in the small car segment. It can be uttered in the same breath as the Suzuki Alto and the Nissan Micra.
The identity of the Mira seen here in patent scan leaks is yet to be accurately established. Initial reports suggest that this is the eighth generation Mira, ready to replace the 7 year old model, while there is a shadow of doubt that it could be a reskinned seventh generation model that will extend the life of the seventh generation by a few years.
Compared to the seventh generation model, the new Mira model has a completely different front fascia, slightly different A-Pillar, redesigned rear door and a different rear fascia.
The Mira is a Japanese kei car that is fitted with a 658cc engine capable of producing 58PS and 65Nm, paired to a CVT. Its minimum turning radius is 4.2m.
The new model's dimensions are reported to be same as the current car which is 3395mm × 1475mm × 1500mm (L*W*H), with a wheelbase of 2,455mm. We'll keep an eye on the new Daihatsu Mira, so until then stay with IndianAutosBlog.com.
