KTM continues to tease its upcoming 2020 1290 Super Duke R ahead of the 2019 EICMA motorcycle show debut. The latest teaser comes in the form of a video that captures a 2020 1290 Super Duke R prototype motorcycle in action.

Being a prototype, the motorcycle does not feature the street-legal bits such as headlight, blinkers or the stoplight. The vehicle, however, gives a glimpse of the styling cues of the upcoming product while hiding the finer details such as frame setup.
The chassis layout on the upcoming model, however, is not a secret. Spy images have already revealed that the 2020 KTM 1290 Super Duke R will feature a revised trellis frame that will use the engine as the stressed member. The trellis frame will be bolted to a cast-alloy sub-frame. In contrast, the outgoing model used a trellis sub-frame.
The aggressive styling cues will be accompanied by new alloy wheels and exhaust design. The 2020 iteration will bring 1290 Super Duke R branding on the exhaust. Styling upgrade exercise should also see tweaks to the graphics and the paint theme. The 2020 1290 Super Duke R, like the outgoing model, will carry full-LED lighting, digital TFT-display and a single-sided swingarm.
The mechanical specifications, too, will undergo upgrades to comply with the more stringent Euro-V emission norms. Reports suggest that the new engine on the 2020 KTM 1290 Super Duke R will be called LC8-V2. The motor will be accompanied by a larger radiator and new cooling routes. The updated mill will carry the same displacement as the current bike, although the performance numbers are expected to climb closer to the 200 PS mark. Regular followers would know that the new Ducati Streetfighter V4 makes 208 hp (211 PS) of peak power, while the supercharger-equipped Kawasaki Z H2 produces 200 PS (without Ram-air).
The upcoming KTM 1290 Super Duke R will reportedly deliver 180 PS to 190 PS of peak power. The outgoing model, for reference, makes 176 PS of maximum power.
