New 2017 Honda Beat launched in Malaysia at MYR 5,724

Boon Siew Honda (BSH), Honda’s subsidiary in Malaysia has launched the new 2017 Honda Beat in the country at a price of MYR 5,724 (showroom price, inclusive of GST).

The new Honda Beat features graffiti-themed stripe graphics on the bodywork, with two-tone colours. The new 14-inch alloy wheels are shod with tubeless tyres for better puncture resistance. The scooter comes in four colour options: Space Magenta Metallic (a new colour), Pearl Nightfall Blue, Pearl Magellanic Black and Vivacity Red. With the new scooter, BSH aims to increase the market share among the youngsters from 24% to 34%. Boon Siew Honda’s Managing Director, Mr. Nobuhide Nagata said:

Last year, BSH launched Honda BeAT that is targeting to the youngsters’ market. Now, we have upgraded its outlook with new colour choice and improvements on stripes. Not only the safety features of this scooter make it suitable for students who are commuting on daily basis but the upgraded look also makes it cooler for them to ride on.

The new Honda Beat also has a Smart Lock System, which keep brakes locked for safe parking, and for avoiding accidental acceleration in traffic. There is also a Side Stand Switch, automatically stopping the engine once engaged for safety.

The new Beat comes with 14-inch alloys shod with 80-section front and 90-section rear tubeless tyres.

Powering the scooter is a 108.20 cc single cylinder eSP engine with air cooling and fuel injection. It makes 8.77 PS of power at 7,500 rpm, and 9.14 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. Honda Beat was the first scooter to achieve EEV (Energy Efficient Vehicle) standards in Malaysia. Suspension bits include telescopic front fork, and unit swingarm suspension at the rear. The scooter employs disc at the front and drum at the rear, with CBS.
