The MG eZS was officially confirmed for India last month. Now, it has been spied on the Indian roads for the very first time. The regular MG ZS was being tested here last year.
The MG eZS measures 4,314 mm in length, 1,809 mm in width and 1,620 mm/1,644 mm in height. It has a 2,585 mm wheelbase and a 161 mm ground clearance. Powering this B-SUV is an electric motor that generates 110 kW (150 PS) and 350 Nm of torque. This electric motor propels the vehicle from a standstill to 50 km/h mark in 3.1 seconds. It gets its juice from a 44.5 kWh battery pack that gives a range of 335 km (NEDC). A full charging using an AC charger takes 6.5. Using a fast charger, 80% charging can be achieved in just 30 minutes.
The MG eZS is will be imported to India via the CBU route. Thanks to the relaxed import norms under which automakers can introduce 2,500 CBU/CKD imports irrespective of their FOB value without having to homologate them in India, launching the eZS won't be very complicated for MG Motor India. The company may locally assemble from imported CKD kits if there's higher demand. The only difference between both the ZS and the eZS is the latter's paint scheme, unique five-spoke alloy wheels, different badging and a charging port under the front grille. The company has confirmed that the Indian-spec eZS will feature its iSmart Next-Gen connectivity features.
