The Mercedes MLC was spotted testing in Germany, a few weeks after it made its global debut at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show as a concept. A report on blog.mercedes-benz-passion.com shows the model testing on a German highway.
The BMW X6 competitor is expected to be launched in 2015. The X6 would also skip to the next generation model this year. The utility vehicle is a combination of an SUV - based off the M-Class platform – and a coupe that takes design inspiration from the S-Class Coupe.
The report also says that the vehicle will be called the ML Coupe, instead of MLC as was previously reported. The model is said to be manufactured from Mercedes's manufacturing facility in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, USA, alongside the ML-Class, GL-Class, R-Class (Made only for China) and the soon to be added 2015 C-Class.
The concept shown at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show was about 5 metres long, 2 metres wide and 1.75 metres tall. It had recessed door handles, frameless windows, giant wheel arches housing 22-inch wheels, high beltline and ample ground clearance.
In terms of changes from the concept to the spied test mule, the report says that the taillights would be conventional, similar to those in the S-Class Coupe.
