Mercedes India has chosen to launch the M Guard in its ML500 spec. This variant of the SUV is powered by a 4,663 cc V8 petrol engine outputting 408 hp and 600 Nm of torque. Paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, the drive is sent to all four wheels via Merc's 4MATIC system. 0-100 km/h takes 6.5 seconds while the top-speed is electronically limited to 210 km/h.
The vehicle features stronger axle components to support the increased weight (the M Guard weighs in at 2,785 kg) and guard-specific torsion bars are used on the rear axle to control the body roll. Apart from the routine tests carried out on all production vehicles, the M Guard is also subjected to a special ballistic test carried out at the Ballistics Bureau in Ulm, Germany.
The M Guard is priced at INR 2.49 crores, ex-Showroom, New Delhi.
