Mercedes-Benz will have at least three world premieres at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show which commences for the media on the 13th of this month. The first, and most important, is the public premiere of the new 2015 C Class.
Next up, Mercedes will show the production version of the GLA 45 AMG. A pre-production prototype was shown a couple of months ago at the Los Angeles Auto Show, and the production version is expected to look almost identical to the concept.
The Concept GLA 45 AMG featured the same 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, turbocharged engine that powers the A 45 and CLA 45 AMG models. Producing 360 hp and 450 Nm of torque, this engine is the world's most powerful 2.0-liter unit. Using a 7-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT double-clutch gearbox, the GLA 45 is claimed to sprint from 0-100 km/h in under 5 seconds.
Like other AMG engines, this motor will also boast the "One Man, One Engine" philosophy (where only one person works on building an AMG engine).
Mercedes is also expected to unveil the 'S600 Maybach' at the show. The S600 will feature a longer wheelbase than the long wheelbase S Class and reportedly measures 18 feet. It would be powered by a 5.5-liter V12 engine and offer seating for four in a 2+2 layout.
