Its not just BMW who is gearing up for an important launch. Mercedes Benz India has talked about its entry into the "20 lakh" segment many times this year, and will realize the dream of introducing India to its concept of affordable luxury with the preview of the B Class on the 19th of this month.
To this effect, they have invited the media to the Buddh International Circuit where they will divulge all details about this product.
Mercedes Benz has also started a countdown on its main website and launched a micro site readytobe.in that simply says "coming soon."
The truth is that the B Class has already come, to dealership yards, as we showed you last week through photographs from Goa.
Mercedes will market this vehicle as India's first Sports Tourer (internationally it gets sold as a Compact Sports Tourer, while the R Class is the Grand Sports Tourer in the Merc family). The B Class will be launched in both petrol and diesel variants and is also cheapest new Mercedes.
Mercedes Benz B Class feature round-up
- Active Parking Assist
- Brake Hold and Hill Hold Function
- Distronic Plus
- Blind Spot Detection System
- Adaptive Headlamp Assist
Like many recent launches, Mercedes Benz will use a top-down strategy selling the fully-loaded AMG-kitted B Class before moving to mainstream variants. Mercedes is aiming to capture 15-20% of this market and has admitted that it cannot blow away the competition with this launch.
