Expected to launch prior to the 2016 Auto Expo.
The Maruti YBA (codename) has been snapped testing again with camouflage. As reported earlier, the sub-4 meter SUV will have its unveiling prior to the 2016 Auto Expo in February.
Targeting the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300, the Maruti YBA is a sub-S-Cross SUV that may be offered at regular Maruti showrooms instead of the NEXA outlets which currently house only the S-Cross and the Baleno.
The YBA is a sub-4 metre car with a design that is similar to the internationally sold Suzuki Vitara. The model features a new grille with chrome finish, an ‘open-mouthed’ lower airdam, horizontal headlamps, a tapering window-line, angular taillamps, a steeply raked windscreen, a floating C-pillar design, and subtle cladding on the wheel arches.
The interior gets an all-black theme and is expected to receive Maruti’s SmartPlay system with a touchscreen display. Similar to the Baleno, all variants may be equipped with dual front airbags, ABS and EBD for added safety.

Powering the Maruti YBA would be the existing petrol and diesel engines including the 1.2-litre petrol, and the 1.3-litre diesel mill. It was earlier mentioned that this SUV will feature the company's self-developed diesel engine, but now the same is expected to be introduced on the model's first refresh/facelift in two to three years.
