The YBA will have its market launch at the Auto Expo 2016.
The Maruti YBA (codename) sub-4 meter SUV was caught on test in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, by Indian Autos Blog readers Archit Kishore and Pankaj Sharma recently. The production-ready prototype is on its final testing leg, ahead of a market launch which will take place at the Auto Expo 2016.
The spyshots of the interior reveal a clutter-free, no-nonsense design, which is typical of a Maruti product. The all-black dashboard gets a piano-black outline for the center console and is complemented by black, fabric seats. As is the case with the carmaker, several switches and parts are carried over from the Swift.
The YBA seen in these spyshots is likely the top-end model, as it is equipped with the touchscreen SmartPlay system. The entertainment system supports Bluetooth streaming, navigation, doubles up as a display for the reverse camera, and even comes with Apple's CarPlay feature.
Resting below the SmartPlay system are controls for the automatic climate control system, below which a large storage space is provided. The manual transmission on the YBA is a 5-speed unit, though a CVT could be introduced with the petrol engine, just like the Baleno. Judging from the image, it is also interesting to note that the YBA gets a cruise control system, a feature Maruti offers only on its S-Cross crossover.

As reported earlier, the Maruti YBA will be powered by the same engines used on the Swift - a 1.2-liter K-Series petrol and the 1.3-liter DDiS diesel. It will rival the Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra TUV300 when launched.
