The Maruti Wagon R Stingray was recently spotted undergoing a photo shoot. The image that you see here comes from Car Sizzler, who report that it could be a photo shoot for the marketing brochure of the car.
The Stingray is essentially a Wagon R with different looking front and rear fascias. The front end of the car has a very sharp and aggressive styling (inspired by the stingray itself) thanks to the slim grill and the sleek headlights. The side profile of the car remains the same, but there could be different looking alloy wheels on offer. Towards the rear, the Stingray gets reworked taillights with clear lens.
Inside, expect Maruti to offer upgrades to the music system and the seat fabrics of the car, apart from the usual changes to the floor mats and the door sills. Underneath the hood, the Stingray will continue to use the same 1.0-liter K Series motor churning 68PS and 90Nm of torque.
The Stingray is expected to cost about INR 20,000-30,000 more than the equivalent Wagon R. Maruti may be looking for a festive season launch, maybe the months of October/November is when you could expect to see the Stingray. The Wagon R is currently the 4th best selling car in the country (first six months of 2013) and the Stingray should further contribute to its success.
