Maruti Suzuki still has over 80,000 orders to fulfil.
Maruti Suzuki has stated that the Maruti Vitara Brezza has registered 1,10,000 unit sales in the first year on the market. This is quite the achievement, given that the Vitara Brezza is Maruti's maiden attempt at a sub-4m SUV.
So overwhelming is the demand for Maruti's SUV, that the company still has over 80,000 orders to fulfil, and there's a waiting period of around 6 months on some variants. It has helped MSIL's utility vehicle segment register a significant growth of over 120 percent in the April 2016 - February 2017 period of this fiscal, and has emerged to become the best-selling utility vehicle in India.

The Brezza achieved these feats despite available solely with a 1.3L DDiS turbodiesel engine and 5-speed manual gearbox, which produces 90 PS and 200 Nm of peak torque. Maruti has confirmed interest in the Brezza Automatic and Brezza petrol variants, but we reckon the additions could see the light of day only when the waiting for the diesel variant reduces. Right now, Maruti would be focusing on fulfilling the backlog of orders quickly with capacity freed up by the functioning of the Gujarat plant.
