Country's first vehicle to have passed through such a crash test.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza was launched in India in March last year and is one of the company's most popular models currently with over 1,00,000 units sold. With growing awareness for vehicle safety standards in the country, Maruti Suzuki took the in-house developed Vitara Brezza's safety aspect very seriously and put it through some crash tests.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is the country's first vehicle certified for offset (AIS 098 at 56 km/h) and side impact crash, says a report from Autocar India. The testing took place at the company's R&D facility in Rohtak. The Maruti Ignis has also passed the AIS 098 offset crash test, and the company has started certifying its old models like the Ertiga, Ciaz, S-Cross and Baleno to meet the legal norms that will be effective in October 2019.
The Maruti Vitara Brezza is offered with driver's airbag as standard. Moving up the range, more passenger and vehicle safety features like codriver's airbag, front seat belt pre-tensioners and force limiter, Reverse parking sensor, Reverse parking camera and anti-theft security system are added.

The Maruti Vitara Brezza is powered by the 1.3-litre DDiS four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 66 kW (88.47 hp) at 4,000 rpm and 200 Nm of torque at 1,750 rpm. A 5-speed manual transmission is standard.
The range starts at INR 7,26,017 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the base LDI trim level and goes up to INR 9,70,018 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the top-end ZDI+ trim level.
