Market launch expected in the first week of July.
Maruti Suzuki has finally unveiled the latest addition to the company's product lineup at the 2015 IIFA movie awards in Kuala Lampur, Malaysia. Called as the Maruti S-Cross, it will join the Maruti Ciaz as one of the company's premium offering, and will be sold through the new Nexa dealerships.
As seen in revealing spyshots, the new S-Cross sports a dual-slat chrome grille, 16-inch alloy wheels, black plastic body cladding, faux skid plates at the front and rear bumpers, raised ground clearance, and large projector headlamps with daytime running lights.
The interior follows an all-black theme with contrasting silver accents, and comes equipped with automatic climate control, rear HVAC vents, a multi-function leather-wrapped steering wheel and a Maruti SmartPlay touch-screen infotainment system from the Ciaz ZXi+.
The S-Cross is powered by a Fiat-sourced 1.6-litre diesel engine with 118bhp and 314 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. Its unclear if Maruti will introduce a petrol-powered variant, automatic transmission or AWD capability, despite these features being offered for international variants.
