Will launch in both petrol and diesel variants.
According to a new report from Financial Express, the Maruti Ignis will arrive in showrooms during this Diwali, thus adhering to their initial plan of introducing it during the festive season. This contradicts several other reports stating that Maruti had delayed the launch in order to reduce the backlog of orders for the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Maruti Baleno.
Unveiled to the Indian public at the Auto Expo 2016, the India-spec Maruti Ignis will feature a chrome-accentuated grille and roof rails. It measures 3,700 mm long, 1,660 mm in wide, 1,595 mm in high, has a 2,435 mm long wheelbase and a 180 mm ground clearance.
Inside, the Ignis will be one of the very few cars in Maruti to feature an interior design distinctive to the product range. The Ignis has a utilitarian floating dual tone dashboard that houses a freestanding SmartPlay display, unique HVAC controls and a new steering wheel design.
Engine lineup will include a 1.2-liter K12B engine with VVT and 1.3-liter DDiS engine equipped with Suzuki’s SHVS mild hybrid tech. A 5-speed manual will be standard in both models, while an (AGS) AMT gearbox could be exclusive to the petrol variant.
