Expected to sell over 10,000 units this month.
With consistent rise in sales figures per month, Autocar Professional expects the Maruti Baleno to cross the 75,000 unit sales mark this month. Maruti has managed to achieve this in just 8 months since it was launched in October.
Last month, Maruti sold 10,004 units of the Baleno, thus bringing the total count to 64,263 units, which averages to over 260 units per day. At this rate, the Baleno can easily cross the 75,000 mark in June. Maruti has already received well over 100,000 bookings for the Baleno, of which around 45,000 bookings are left to fulfill reportedly.
Despite the positive numbers, the Maruti Baleno still hasn't managed to overtake the segment leader - the Hyundai i20 - since the start of 2016. The reason is attributed to production constraints at their plants in Manesar and Gurugram, which are running at full capacity. This has resulted in a waiting period of 6 months; a deal-breaker for many.

Maruti hopes to meet the demand for the Baleno when operations at its new plant in Sanand will commence from early-2017. It will be the first car to roll out of the new plant, and hopes to reduce the waiting period that prospective buyers are currently facing.
