Maruti Suzuki will unveil a new concept SUV called Maruti Future S at Auto Expo 2018. The concept is confirmed to evolve into a production model.
As seen in the teaser image, the concept has a tough SUV-like design with a steep A-pillar, windshield, muscular haunches and a high beltline. The teaser image hints sleek headlamps and tail lamps as well. Maruti Suzuki says that the Maruti Future S concept has a high seating position, a high ground clearance and a horizontal hood which give it an aggressive stance and posture.
According to a report from Autocar India, the Maruti Future S concept is over 200 mm shorter than the Maruti Vitara Brezza (3,995 mm). This means that the concept will likely evolve into the Renault Kwid rivaling model codenamed Maruti Y1K. The production version will ride on the lightweight and rigid Heartect platform. Maruti Suzuki will likely offer it with an electrified K-series 1.2-litre petrol engine and the in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine.
