To position the 2018 Maruti Ertiga as a premium product, Maruti Suzuki will sell it through the NEXA outlets, as per a new report from CarDekho. At present, the Maruti Ertiga is sold through the regular Arena store.
Launched in July 2015, NEXA is Maruti Suzuki’s premium sales channel. Currently, four models (and their derivatives, if any) retail from NEXA: Maruti S-Cross, Maruti Baleno, Maruti Ignis and Maruti Ciaz. To enhance the after-sales experience for the products, the company started commissioning NEXA Service outlets in July 2017.
Underpinned by the lightweight and rigid Heartect platform, the 2018 Maruti Ertiga will measure 4.4 metres in length, 1.7 metres in width and 1.7 metres in height. It will have a 2.7-metre wheelbase. It will come with a new K15B 1.5-litre VVT petrol engine. This naturally aspirated four-cylinder mill offers a maximum output of 104.7 PS at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 138 Nm at 4,400 rpm. It sends power to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission. Maruti Suzuki will offer the SHVS mild-hybrid system in the petrol engine model for the first time.
As the diesel engine option, the D13A 1.3-litre DDiS unit will likely continue through the second generation until the new Suzuki-developed 1.5-litre diesel engine is ready. The new diesel engine would help the Ertiga meet the more stringent BSVI emission norms from April 2020. The D13A engine will likely come in the current state of tune (90 PS/200 Nm).
