Maruti-Suzuki has received 5,000 bookings for the upcoming Ciaz midsize sedan, says a report on Autocar India. Dealers started taking orders from September 3, and within three days, received 3,000 bookings.
The Ciaz is likely to launch on October 10, ahead of which the company has started production of the car in order to minimize waiting periods. The report says that Maruti is making 100 units of the car each day.
The sedan sources its engines from the Ertiga MPV. The petrol engine is the 1.4-liter K-Series producing 92.45 PS and 130 Nm of torque, while the Fiat-sourced 1.3-liter Mutijet diesel makes 90 PS and 200 Nm of torque. Both engines get a 5-speed manual transmission, but the petrol will optionally get a 4-speed automatic.
Maruti claims class-leading efficiency for the Ciaz, with the petrol variant (manual transmission) rated at 20.73 km/l and the diesel at 26.21 km/l, making it the most fuel efficient car in the country.
