Will be launched in UK in June.
The Maruti Suzuki Baleno, launched in India in October last year, has proven to be a big hit for the company. While domestic sales are thriving, exports are also being made aggressively. The made-in-India model has topped Maruti Suzuki's export chart last month with a figure of nearly 3,400 units, as per a report from Autocar Professional.
The first export lot, consisting 1,760 right-hand drive, petrol-engined units, was shipped to Japan in January. Later last month, exports commenced to six European countries - Germany, Italy, Belgium, Poland, Slovenia and Spain. The Indian subsidiary had already stated that it has an initial target of 5,000-6,000 units/month for exports, and so, the next few months should see the figure rising nearly two-fold from February's.
The export-spec Suzuki Baleno is offered with two petrol engine choices: a 1.0-litre BOOSTERJET turbocharged three-cylinder unit good for 82 kW (110 hp) and 170 Nm (6AT: 160 Nm) of torque and a 1.2-litre DUALJET naturally aspirated four-cylinder unit with or without the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) featuring engine assist by an integrated starter generator. The DUALJET unit produces 66 kW (89 hp) and 120 Nm of torque.
