It was reported early last month that the Maruti Ignis's launch had been delayed to October-November 2016 period and that the Maruti Baleno RS has been pushed back to early-2017. Now, a report from Economic Times says that the Maruti Baleno RS will also be launched this year itself.
Speaking to the publication, Mr. R S Kalsi, Executive Director, Maruti Suzuki India, said that the Maruti Ignis and Maruti Baleno RS will be launched by the end of the year. Both cars will be sold through the NEXA dealerships.
The Maruti Ignis, a crossover-styled hatchback, will rival with the Mahindra KUV100. The Suzuki iM-4 concept's production version will be offered with the K12B 1.2-litre VVT petrol engine and the 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine. A 5-speed manual transmission will be standard in both engine models, but the petrol model could be offered optionally with an automated manual transmission.
The Maruti Baleno RS will pack the BOOSTERJET engine with a sportier styling. The K10C DITC 1.0-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine produces 82 kW (109.92 hp) at 5,500 rpm and 170 Nm of torque at 2,000-3,500 rpm (5MT)/160 Nm of torque at 1,500-4,000 rpm (6AT) in international spec.
