Debuts the Boosterjet engine in India.
Maruti will launch the Maruti Baleno RS in the coming weeks. The sporty hatchback made its debut at this year's Auto Expo and was announced to launch in the festive season period (i.e) exactly this time of the year.
On the other hand, Maruti still has the regular Baleno on backlog orders - the waiting period ranges up to 33 weeks. And NEXA outlets are continuing to accept bookings for the Baleno for a deposit of INR 11,000. Interestingly, NEXA outlets now say that a buyer making a new booking for the Baleno has the option to change his/her booking for the Baleno RS when the latter has its market launch. This way, the buyer continues to advance up the waiting list, and can potentially have the Baleno RS delivered soon after the market launch.
A Maruti spokesperson declined to comment on the above information.
The Maruti Baleno RS will debut Suzuki's all-new three-cylinder 1.0-liter turbocharged Boosterjet engine in India. This unit develops 110 hp and 160 Nm on the Euro-spec model, and will reportedly offer better fuel efficiency than the Baleno 1.2 K-Series which delivers 21.4 km/l in ARAI-tests.
