Waiting period for a new customer is over six months.
Business Standard reports that the long waiting period for the Maruti Baleno will stay due to production constraints at its factory in Manesar.
Currently, the plant is running at full capacity, leaving no room to increase the production rate of the Baleno, unless they reduce the output of other models in the product range. With no solution to reducing the waiting period, the Maruti Baleno's monthly sales are likely to take a hit in the coming months.
In the last three consecutive months, the Hyundai Elite i20 outsold the Baleno by a certain margin, despite the Baleno garnering over 100,000 pre-orders in a short amount of time. The Baleno will also be produced at Suzuki’s forthcoming plant in Gujarat, although the plant's operation will commence in mid-2017.
