Market launch expected in the third week of January 2016.
CAR Magazine India has snapped this image of what appears to be a base variant of the Mahindra S101 (codename). As reported earlier, the S101, or the XUV100 as it could be named, will launch in the third week of January 2016.
The interior of the S101 sports a 'Greige' color theme, similar to the Nissan Micra. The design of the dashboard breaks the Mahindra tradition, with an all-new three-spoke steering wheel, vertically-arranged knobs for the AC and the column-mounted gearlever, which in this case is a manual unit. However, spyshots have shown the XUV100 with an automated manual transmission as well.
The prototype is observed to be a base variant as it is devoid of even front power windows, and lacks a music system. However, the top-end variant of the S101 is expected to offer alloy wheels, front and rear power windows, a 2-DIN music system with Bluetooth support and Mahindra BlueSense, ABS, EBD and dual front airbags.

The XUV100, when launched, will debut a petrol engine for the brand. The engine in question is a 1.2-liter unit, likely a three-cylinder motor developed with inputs from Ssangyong Motor. Aside from the petrol, the small car is also expected with a three-cylinder diesel engine which could be borrowed from the TUV300.
