On 16 August, we reported that Ssangyong has started shipping the CKD kits of the G4 Rexton to India. Now, Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed that it will launch mid-size SUV, which it showcased at Auto Expo 2018, on 19 November, 2018.

The Mahindra Rexton is expected to have an ex-showroom price of around INR 24 lakhs.

Powering the Mahindra Rexton is the 2.2-litre e-XDi220 LET turbocharged diesel engine that comes mated to a Mercedes-Benz-sourced 7-speed automatic transmission. The oil-burner puts out a maximum power of 187 PS along with a peak torque of 420 Nm. The new model is expected to be available with a part-time AWD system. Internationally, the diesel engine is available with a 6-speed manual transmission as well, and there's even a petrol engine option along with 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission choices. However, don't expect any of these here.

The fourth generation Rexton is claimed to be the first model in the world to feature a quad-frame body structure with 63% 1.5Gpa-grade high-strength steel. Other safety features will include an electric parking brake, nine airbags, ABS with EBD, and traction control. The SsangYong-badged version is available in 5- and 7-seat versions, but the Mahindra-badged version may come exclusively as a three-row SUV.
