Mahindra & Mahindra is on an aggressive global expansion spree with their XUV500 and the newly launched Quanto compact SUV.
The recently launched sub-four metre SUV, the Quanto is next in line to take the Mahindra brand global. In his interaction with Indian Autos Blog during the Quanto's launch, Mr. Vivek Nayer, chief marketing officer of M&M (automotive division) told that the compact SUV is set to be exported to Europe and Latin America.
Speaking to BS Motoring magazine, Mr. Pravi Shah, Chief Executive (automotive division) of Mahindra said, "In the next four to five months we are planning to start exports of the vehicle (Quanto) to Europe and Italy is likely to be the first destination."
Mahindra has planned an initial production volume of 2,500 Quantos per month at its Nashik plant, although they've the flexibility of increasing the production according to the market demands since the assembly line is shared with the Xylo. The current combined production capacity of this assembly line stands at 7,000 units per month.
BS Motoring reports that the Quanto has clocked around 3,200 bookings since the bookings started in third week of September.
Mahindra will be looking to pitch the Quanto against the Dacia Duster in the European markets. The company will hope that Quanto's distinction as the world's first sub-four metre car to have seven seats will guide them home in the European markets.
