Mahindra & Mahindra has announced that cumulative sales of the Bolero UV have crossed the 10 lakh mark. Launched in August 2000, the Mahindra Bolero took 17 years and 8 months to achieve the feat.
Speaking on this achievement, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales & Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said -
This is a proud moment for us as our iconic brand, Bolero crossed the 10 lac units milestone, since launch. Infact the Bolero has regained its position in the top 10 passenger vehicles in India, which is a validation of the confidence consumers, in semi urban and rural India, have reposed on the brand. Further the successful launch of the Bolero Power+ has helped the brand to grow steadily, inspite of several new launches in the UV space.
In March 2018, Mahindra sold 9,104 units of the Bolero rentering the top 10 bestsellers list. It was also the third highest selling SUV in the country. Following a dull November and December when Mahindra Bolero sales stood at 4,911 and 5,529 units respectively, sales have picked up January onwards with the UV clocking 8,206 and 8,001 units in January and February respectively.
In September 2016, Mahindra launched the Bolero Power+. The sub-4 m version of the Bolero powered by a 1.5 L three-cylinder ‘mHawk D70’ turbodiesel engine producing 70 bhp 195 Nm gave the UV a much-needed sales push by lowering the price tag thanks to small car tax benefits.
