Jaguar and Land Rover each have an exciting model to ring in 2015. While the Jaguar XE sedan will rival the likes of the BMW 3 Series and Mercedes C Class, the Land Rover Discovery Sport, which is a replacement for the Freelander 2, merges the company's new design and technologies with the convenience of 7 seats.
For the Indian market, Jaguar plans to bring the XE in early 2016. For 2015, JLR will launch the new Discovery Sport in India, sources confirmed to Indian Autos Blog. The Indian launch of the new SUV is scheduled to take place by mid-2015.
Production of the Discovery Sport has already started at the Halewood plant in the U.K. At the moment, the SUV is available with a 2.2-liter diesel engine and a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine with 2WD and 4WD. The engines can be had with a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Features seen on the Discovery Sport include an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a head-up display, autonomous city braking, a new Terrain Response System and water wading capability of 600 mm.
