Could be introduced through the CKD route.
An Indian dealership will soon display the KTM 1190 Adventure R, sources told Indian Autos Blog. Ahead of the showcase, IAB reader Fernandes, sent us these images of the motorcycle at the dealership.
At the Indian launch of the KTM RC twins, the RC390 and RC200, Mr. Stefan Pierer, CEO, KTM, said that the brand was working towards offering an adventure model in India. Further, Mr. Pierer said that the bike would be introduced through the CKD route hinting that the company was targeting an aggressive pricetag.
The 1190 Adventure R which is just one of four models KTM offers in the Adventure segment (the others being the newly-introduced 1050, the 1190 Adventure and 1290 Super Adventure) abroad could kick-start the Austrian brand's innings into new segments.
The motorcycle in question is powered by a V-twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled, 1,195 cc engine capable of 150 hp matched to a 6-speed transmission with a hydraulically operated slipper clutch. The adventure tourer is based on a Lattice frame made from chrome molybdenum steel for high rigidity, and tips the scale at 230 kg dripping wet.
An upside down WP suspension at the front and a monoshock at the rear are seen with a generous suspension travel of 220 mm. Twin 320 mm discs at the front and a 267 mm disc at the rear are offered with a Bosch ABS system.
Upon launch, the 1190 Adventure R would rival the Triumph Tiger 800, though it should be mentioned that the Tiger features a smaller 800 cc engine capable of 95 PS. Nevertheless with prices extending till INR 12.7 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi, for the Tiger XCx, KTM could launch a price-war with the introduction of the Adventure R.
