Earlier this week, Kia announced that it will name the SP2i premium B-SUV 'Seltos'. Now the company has teased the same in an official short video which gives a glimpse of its exteriors and displays a message 'The Future of Design'.
The Seltos name has been inspired by the Greek mythology and the legend of ‘Celtos’ the son of Hercules. Kia says, the letter 'S' in the SUV's adapted name denotes speed, sportiness and strength. Also, the name of every monocoque SUV from Kia, begins with the letter 'S'. The short teaser video (above) shows its key exterior design highlights such as the signature tiger-nose grille, 18-inch double-spoke alloy wheels and wedge-shaped wraparound LED tail lamps. In terms of overall design, the Seltos is an evolution of the SP Signature concept, which itself was derived from the SP Concept.
Kia has previously teased interior of the Seltos as well, via design sketches. The premium B-SUV will get a nicely laid-out dashboard packing vertically positioned outer air-con vents. It will be kitted with a huge 10.25-inches touchscreen infotainment system, which will be the biggest in the segment, as well as Sound Mood Lighting and a head-up display.
The Indian-spec Kia Seltos will be available with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. The transmission duties will likely be done by a standard 6-speed manual unit or an optional 6-speed automatic unit. Interestingly, Kia will also launch a performance variant of the Seltos which will sport a 140 PS 1.4L turbocharged petrol engine paired with a 7-speed DCT. This variant will feature paddle-shifters as well.
