Expected to launch early this year
Renault had earlier confirmed the arrival of the Lodgy by releasing an official image of the MPV in its Indian specification. Since then the French brand is still putting the MPV through tests, and an IAB reader has spotted a cammo-wrapped pre-production prototype on GST Road, Chennai.
The Indian-spec Renault Lodgy will be launched with slight modifications to its international twin. For instance, the front grille bars feature chrome detailing, a redesigned front fascia with black plastic cladding in the underlip for basic variants and optional silver skid guard for top variants. Also part of the changes are a new alloy rim design and a new communication colour.
Like the exterior, the interior could also receive some market-specific changes as the Lodgy shares a bulk of its components with the Duster which is well localized in India.
Renault haven't officially confirmed the engine lineup for the Lodgy, but it's a given that they'll fit it with the 1.5-liter dCi engine, which serves as the only diesel motor available in Renault India's range. On the power output front, Renault claims that the Lodgy will “deliver best in segment performance”. The engine will be paired to either a 5- or 6-speed manual gearbox.
