On the 6th of this month, which was its 23rd Foundation Day in India, Hyundai started the series production of the Venue at its Chennai plant. Now, the new SUV has already started arriving at the dealerships ahead of its launch, which will mark its market premiere globally, on 21 May.
Both the Hyundai Venue units seen in the images in this story are powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, as indicated by the red Turbo badge on their tailgate. The Polar White unit seen above has the engine paired with a 7-speed DCT, while the Typhoon Silver unit seen below has a 6-speed manual transmission instead. Customers can go for even an 83 PS 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine married to a 5-speed manual transmission or 90 PS/220 Nm 1.4L turbocharged diesel engine linked to a 6-speed manual transmission. In all cases, the sub-4 metre SUV is strictly FWD.
The pre-bookings for the Hyundai Venue are already open. The Hyundai Venue is being touted as a connected SUV. It comes with 33 different 'BlueLink' connectivity features, 10 of which are incorporated specifically for the Indian market. Other highlights include two-tier front light setup, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED tail lights, electric sunroof, air purifier, wireless charger and 8-inch HD central display. The sub-compact SUV is available in E, S, SX, SX (O), SX Dual Tone and SX+ grades.
