Just yesterday the Hyundai Grand i10 was revealed in a few press images released by the company. Hyundai has now announced that the Grand i10 will be launched on September 3.
Here is a quick refresh of the Grand i10. The Grand i10 is essentially a larger version of the Euro spec 2014 Hyundai i10 (which was also announced yesterday). The 2014 i10 would be sold in the European markets and succeed the current i10. However in India, the Grand i10 will continue sales along with the current i10.
As a result, the Grand i10 will be positioned in between the current i10 and the i20 and would also be priced accordingly. Hyundai says that the Grand i10's rear aircon vent is a first-in-segment feature, which it is. You can expect the Grand i10 to be feature packed with steering mounted audio controls, a music system that can support almost every device, airbags, ABS and alloy wheels, in short expect the Grand i10 to match the Maruti Swift on the features list.
The Grand i10 will be launched with two engine options - a 1.2-liter Kappa2 petrol (as seen on the Hyundai i10 and i20) and a 1.1-liter U2 diesel engine. This is a 3-cylinder version of the 1.4 CRDi used on the i20.
The Maruti Swift would be one of the rivals of the Grand i10, especially the petrol version. The biggest enemy for Grand i10 diesel would be the Chevrolet Beat diesel and Ford Figo.
