Pseudo-crossover based on the Elite looks to challenge the Toyota Etios Cross.
The Hyundai Elite i20 Cross was snapped testing in Chennai once again by a reader of CarDekho. These spyshots show that the Elite Cross will get LED daytime running lights and projector headlamps, much like the i20 sold in Europe.
On closer observation, the front skid guard of the car is visible as is a black plastic moulding for the rear bumper. Other features seen on the car include roof rails, side body moulding and petal-shaped alloy wheels.
The Elite i20 Cross will likely be offered with the same set of engines as the Elite. A 1.2-liter petrol producing 83 PS (81.83 bhp) and 114.7 Nm of torque is matched to a 5-speed manual transmission, and a 1.4-liter diesel developing 90 PS (88.74 bhp) and 220 Nm of torque is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Elite i20 Cross maybe an intermediate offering for those looking for a hatchback with a rugged look, yet do not want to opt for a compact crossover like the Duster or the ix25 which is destined for India next year. The Elite Cross is expected to be the flagship offering on the i20 line, and will likely be the most expensive variant, despite being classified by legislation as a small car.
