Best seller for HMIL last month.
The new Hyundai Elite i20 has garnered over 56,000 bookings and 300,000 customer enquiries within four months of the launch, Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) said in a statement today.
Within its second month, the Elite i20 entered the list of the top 10 selling cars in India. In fact, last month saw best ever sales for the hatchback at 10,500 units, making it the top seller for HMIL. Mr. Rakesh Srivastava, Senior Vice President for Sales & Marketing, HMIL, said that the company was working towards increasing production of the car to reduce waiting periods.
The Elite i20 is available with a 1.2-liter petrol engine and a 1.4-liter diesel engine, the latter getting a 6-speed manual transmission. Currently, the Elite does not get an automatic transmission.
Hyundai has started testing out a crossover based on the Elite which is expected to launch early next year to rival the VW Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross and Fiat Avventura.
Spyshots have shown the Elite-based crossover getting projector headlights with LED daytime running lights, roof rails, front and rear skid guards, side cladding and petal-shaped alloy wheels.
